Mapmaking Error

I have just returned to playing Settlers III after being away for several years. I want to return to making maps as i have done many times in the past. I have aproblem with this because of an error regarding mixing buildings, settlers, piles, etc.... I know that there is a way to fix this but i don't remember how. Is there somone out there who can help me please? it would be very much appreciated.

Can you please exactly tell me, what's the error like?
What do you want to do? Setting buildings into the landscape?..and what happens?
Maybe you have a screenshot to better demonstrate the problem.

BTW
What system is running on yr PC and what S3 edition do you use?

I'm using S3 Gold edition with XP.
The error i'm getting is in the editor when i try to make a map. it goes as follows;
"You cannot mix up the settings of buildings for each player. Either you set up buildings, settlers and piles for each player or you don't set any building/settler or pile. both is allowed but not mixed up."

You just can set buildings and settlers in one party's area (one colour), which you can choose in the tool setting window(watch attachment)
Piles can be placed everywhere.

First you have to place a castle or a tower, THEN you can set the buildings for each area.

I really don't know what the problem is. I have tried numerous time. Everything is ok until i try to put a building on the map but the error keeps coming up. I tried with two players and gave each a small tower but still got the error.

Honestly I don't know, what error this should be. I never had something like that. Is it possible to make a screenshot of this error note? Maybe it would help to solve the problem.

I think I've found the error:
Under "edit" you can chose "party settings" (hope, that's the correct word for it)
There you can chose "human", "computer" and "free choice" for each party.
I'm sure, the error message adverts to it.

i am at a total loss. I have tried about every setting i can think of but it always come to the same thing. As soon as i put a building, or a settler in i get the error. i even tried to give all the players the same but no go.
I'm ripping my hair out here and i'm absolutely baffled by this.
I tried as multi and single.
I tried with other players set as human, computer, and choose.
I tried setting other players as named races and choose.
It's all ok until i try to enter a building or place some soldiers somewhere on the map

Would you mind to explain, what was wrong?
On the one hand I'm curious and on the other hand it would be interesting for other users with similar problems.

I hope, we can expect alot of new S3 maps.

I found that if i did one player at a time it bypassed the error.
So i took 1 and placed a tower and some settlers and a pile of goods.
Then i created 2 and did the same thing.
The the same for 3 and 4.....etc.
Inititially i was putting in the players and trying to add the extras. It wouldn't work that way. I had to do each one at a time.
Now that I have figured that out i will probably be posting some new ones after i play them to make sure they work.
